First a disclaimer on this title

"Artist and the Making of Meaning" is a title shamelessly stolen from an undergrad course I took at emerson College with professor Stephen Shipps. I have no certain knowledge on who gave name to the course, but it was formative enough for me as an artistic observer, that I'm happy to maintain the association in my adult life. If I have crossed any line by appropriating the title, I can only say that my imitation is flattery and not a claim of originality or association.
